Robert Pattinson's Twilight Fame Came At a Massive Cost
Robert Pattinson admits that Twilight led to a huge change in his life, adding that it wasn't easy.
Today, Robert Pattinson is one of the highest paid actors in the world and is listed among the most influential celebrities in various magazines. The actor is so wealthy that he has the luxury of choosing independent and interesting projects over high-budget films, making his acting career rich and varied.
But that was not always the case.
Before Twilight, Pattinson lived in a small apartment and even considered quitting acting.

Although Twilight was not Pattinson's first big franchise, it definitely became a pivotal point in his life. The role of Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter 4 brought the actor recognition from Wizarding World fans, but it didn't do much for his career. We know of Harry Potter child stars who never pursued an acting career after the franchise ended. Twilight, on the other hand, changed everything for Pattinson and brought him worldwide recognition.

But the actor behind Edward Cullen didn't always see all that Twilight craze as a positive thing.
On the contrary, Pattinson has said on several occasions that his Twilight fame didn't come easy. The actor revealed to Spanish GQ that the celebrity status basically robbed him of a normal life.
Pattinson apparently felt that his fame came with a fair share of hatred from unfamiliar people (many Twilight fans were not happy with Pattinson's casting as Edward Cullen) and disturbed his pre-Twilight life in a small apartment. He described fame as a battle in which an actor eventually loses and moves on to a new and somewhat lonely life.
"I feel fortunate because success didn't reach me very young and, at least, I had the opportunity to have a life before," the actor added.
Later, the actor discussed his progressing views of fame with BBC Newsweek, explaining that it had taken some time for him to figure out how to live a new life after the Twilight fame hit.
In the end, the actor realized that the key to surviving the changing reality was an attitude. Pattinson added that he felt fortunate that the Twilight Saga only lasted for five movies and he wasn't contractually tied to it for much longer.
The first installment of the box-breaking vampire-themed romance fantasy franchise premiered in 2008 when Pattinson was just 22 years old. The Twilight Saga ended with 2012's Breaking Dawn – Part 2 when the actor was 27 and had already starred in several other movies, including David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis.
