Another day, another Hitchcock remake. This time, Vertigo is about to relive the glory of its predecessor (or get butchered in the process?).

The original thriller came out in 1958 and is considered one of Hitchcock's finest works to date. The script for the reboot will be written by none other than Steven Knight himself, who seems to be the latest big name in the business.

He has recently signed on to write a new Star Wars movie, and now Vertigo goes to him too? We expect great things from you, Steven!

Not only does the movie have a legendary Peaky Blinders screenwriter, but it is also set to have Robert Downey Jr. in the lead role! It can't fail with such an amazing team involved, right?

Downey is cast as John "Scottie" Ferguson, a detective who suffers from the fear of heights and vertigo – the role first played by James Stewart.

The plot of the original movie revolves around him trying to save his old friend's wife from committing suicide (but there is much more going on than meets the eye!).

Robert has long since become a pop culture icon for his role as Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he has received quite a few nominations and awards throughout his acting career.

1958's Vertigo was made by Paramount, and the remake will be as well, as it was the Hitchcock Estate's studio of choice for the remake. Team Downey, Downey's production company, will produce the reboot.

All seems to be there for an amazing remake, but there is a dark cloud on the horizon.

Fans are not too happy about the reboot, saying that Hollywood should "leave the classics alone."

People are afraid that the new Vertigo will end up as ill-fated as the remake of another Hitchcock classic, Psycho. No one wants that mess again…

If all goes well, the fans' fears will remain just that – fears.

With such a great team working on the remake, should we dare to hope that the reboot turns out at least as good as the original (or even better)?
