Richest Game of Thrones Actors, Ranked (Kit Harington is Surprisingly Low)
Game of Thrones was both incredibly expensive and incredibly profitable, and HBO definitely made some great return on it — but what about the actors?
We put together the list of the show's richest stars to answer this question.
For many actors, Game of Thrones became a massive boost to their careers, practically rendering them superstars overnight; others were already well-established in the industry when they received the offer from HBO.
But all of them were making great money on the series as the main cast was paid $1M per episode in the last seasons.
But are the Lannisters really as rich as they appear? Let's find out together — here's the top-5 list of the Game of Thrones stars with the biggest treasuries.
5. Lena Headey — $12M
Lena Headey played one of the major roles in the show, and for most viewers, she's better known as Cersei Lannister.
Having lived through the entire show (almost!), her character was the one who fans either love or hate, with no in-between.
4. Kit Harrington — $14M
Kit Harrington's acting career jumpstarted with his role as Jon Snow.
For a young British actor, playing the main character in a show of such scale was massive: his Jon Show became a fan favorite almost instantly, bringing Kit fame and money.
3. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau — $16M
One more Lannister on our list, but not the last one, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was made famous by Game of Thrones even though he'd been an actor before it, too.
His Jaime Lannister was controversial and ambiguous, but brilliant nonetheless.
2. Emilia Clarke & Sean Bean — $20M
The second place is shared between Emilia Clarke and Sean Bean.
For Sean, playing Ned Stark changed nothing as he was already famous, but Emilia became a superstar because of her role as Daenerys Targaryen, and rightfully so.
1. Jason Momoa & Peter Dinklage — $25M
Peter Dinklage and Jason Momoa share the 1st place in this rating and are undoubtedly the richest actors from Game of Thrones.
Their situation is pretty similar to Sean and Emilia's: Dinklage was a well-known actor prior to playing Tyrion Lannister, whereas Momoa's career was literally launched after his role as Khal Drogo.
Considering that half of the actors who share the first two places had been famous before getting a role in Game of Thrones, it's safe to say the biggest career boost happened to Jason Momoa and Emilia Clarke, who played husband and wife and became the best friends after the show.
One thing from the show remains true in real life: the Lannisters are still the richest House as the combined net worth of Cersei, Jaime, and Tyrion (Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Peter Dinklage) sums up to over $50M.
Papa Tywin would've been proud — and if Charles Dance were to add his own $10M on top, this clan would've become truly unstoppable.
