Richard Linklater’s 'Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood' Just Floored the First Viewers
The new animated film from the director of legendary ‘Dazed and Confused’ will be available on Netflix this Friday.
Parts of this animated science fiction, which was shot in live-action, was animated using a technique similar to those that was used in Linklater's ‘Waking Life’ (2001) and ‘A Scanner Darkly’ (2006). The film stars Glen Powell, Jack Black, Zachary Levi and Josh Wiggins.
'Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood' takes place during the 1969 Apollo 11 Moon landing and explores children on Earth's fantasies about the event. It is a snapshot of American life in the 1960s that is part coming of age, part societal commentary, and part out-of-this-world adventure. The film is loosely based on Richard Linklater's own childhood.
According to Metacritic, 'Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood' is officially a Must-See. On Rotten Tomatoes it has 91%.
