Ready for some more sci-fi comedy?

Summary:

  • Resident Alien is easily one of the funniest sci-fi shows ever created.
  • The series found a new home on Netflix, attracting even more viewers.
  • The ratings of season 3's latest episode are over the top, which means there are high chances to get another season of the comedy.

Who doesn’t like a good old sci-fi comedy show? Well, we know we do. It’s the whole other multiversal world of humor and its different forms that are making the viewers glued to their silver screens, not even realizing what it is that keeps them so invested.

One of the shows that the fans of science fiction just adore is Resident Alien, which premiered on NBC Universal's Syfy in 2021. The show immediately became a beloved watch, making the viewers say it’s easily the funniest thing they have ever seen.

The show revolves around an alien, who, after crash-landing on Earth, becomes attached to human life. The thing is, initially sent to destroy all the humans, he finds himself taking into a middle-aged man’s body and literally becoming “one of them” now.

The alien now has to live in a small town in Colorado and identifies as Dr. Harry Vanderspeigel. So basically instead of killing humans, he has to learn (through Google) how to save them... Which brings a moral dilemma into his life.

Things get complicated as the story progresses when he finds himself in the middle of a murder case and tries to help solve it. But even in such a scenario, the actor who brilliantly plays the alien, Alan Tudyk, gives an incredibly funny performance.

The first season of the show was a total hit, and the second was almost as good. So now the show is on its third season and it seems that the fans don't want it to end yet. However, there is good news for all the fans, which might mean that there might be a season 4 after all.

Prior to the premiere of the first episode of Season 3 in February, the first two chapters of the show were released on Netflix, bringing more new viewers to the series.

Also, episode 5 of the current season drew in a viewership of 595,000 live viewers on Syfy. This makes it the highest viewed episode this season, which ultimately brings hope to the fans of the series who dream of having yet another season of the beloved show.

“It’s steadily been on imdb’s top 10 most popular shows, which gives me hope that it gets renewed, hopefully for more episodes this time. I want a 16 episode season 4,” Redditor tvlover321 said.

It's time to watch Resident Alien on Netflix or Syfy if you haven't had a good laugh in a while.
