Reddit's Most Unpopular Opinions About Supernatural Are Not That Surprising
Supernatural is one of those shows that has a massively loyal fanbase, yet no shortage of unpopular opinions.
What perhaps sets SPN fans apart from many other fandoms, is that these less-liked views are often freely shared and used as a basis for robust and positive discussion, without anyone seeming afraid to share their honest thoughts.
Reddit has a very entertaining thread on some of the more common unpopular thoughts about the show, and they are hardly surprising.
One relates to character deaths. Several specific names are mentioned, but overall, a frequent theme is the show choosing to kill several characters without giving them much airtime.
Eve is the most underrated villain
Eve seems to be the villain that people wished they had seen more of, feeling she could have played a much larger role and was dispatched far too soon.
Rufus is another that fans believe should have been around longer and lament that he has now become a mostly forgotten character as a result of his limited appearances.
Another strong theme is the show's treatment of Chuck, with some fans finding him an enjoyable character but sorely lacking when he became a villain. Further, the entire concept of God being evil is something that left a bad taste in some SPN fans' mouths.
The Winchesters ' worst habit
Even the two leads, Sam and Dean Winchester are not immune to the unpopular opinion phenomenon.
Some have spoken up about the whole notion of secret-keeping, and that they found it tiresome how often the brothers would swear not to keep things from each other, only to do so again in the very next episode.
While most seem to feel it added an extra dimension of suspense to their relationship, clearly, not everyone is pleased with this, and it is, at least partially, understandable.
Which season is the worst?
In terms of the episodes and seasons themselves, it is generally well-accepted that Season 7 is the weakest for Supernatural. But that does not mean it is bad viewing.
To say a certain season is the weakest when you are speaking of a show like SPN is merely in comparison to the other, truly mind-blowing ones.
Most felt the Leviathan were weak villains and found them annoying, with Dick Roman, their leader, being particularly despised.
Yet, there are some fans who share the opinion that Season 7 is far better than is it given credit for and that the Leviathan are awesome villains.
This one is not surprising either, the Leviathan did have some pretty cool aspects to them and Season 7 was not terrible. It was still well-written and performed and thrilling to watch. Another unpopular opinion that should not be a surprise to anyone.
