In his latest interview with Variety, the actor decided to share his experience and his point of view, as opposed to Elordi's. Here's what he said:

“It’s a shame that was his experience on the set. Especially when those movies came out, it was a time when we really needed something like that. I know from our fan interactions, <...> what ‘Kissing Booth’ means to people and what it brought them during such a dark time. I guess the silver lining is he still made people laugh and feel good.”

The actor is probably used to this kind of interaction already, as his newfound fanbase after the success of Red, White & Royal Blue feels the same way about Perez's portrayal of Alex Claremont-Diaz.
