Red, White & Royal Blue Star Butts Heads With Jacob Elordi Over The Kissing Booth
You are still free to enjoy your romantic comedies in peace.
Summary:
- The Kissing Booth is a series of romantic comedy films produced by Netflix.
- Both Jacod Elordi and Taylor Zakhar Perez were starring in the movies, yet they both left the set with very different sentiments about it.
- While Elordi slams The Kissing Booth for a lack of depth, Perez praises it as a “feel good” genre.
Unfortunately, the movies that audiences enjoy the most aren't always the actors' favorites. As much as we like to think that a nice atmosphere behind the scenes will translate to the screen and make us feel good, it's not always the case. Sometimes the actors are just doing what they're hired to do: acting.
And as long as the image of a happy cast is not ruined, the magic of the project remains the same, regardless of the actual feelings the actor had on set.
However, as soon as not-so-pleasant details and opinions are released, some fans feel betrayed by the way they were tricked. This happened to some of Jacob Elordi's fans who have followed his career since The Kissing Booth and have many fond memories of the franchise.
Taylor Zakhar Perez About The Kissing Booth
While the experiences of different actors on the same set can be drastically different, both opinions deserve the right to be heard. People were quick to dismiss The Kissing Booth movies as not being the most serious project ever, after Jacob Elordi's comment that he didn't want to be a part of it. But that's not the case for everyone.
Another alum of the Netflix romcom is Taylor Zakhar Perez, who is now also known to the public as Alex Claremont-Diaz from Red, White & Royal Blue.
In his latest interview with Variety, the actor decided to share his experience and his point of view, as opposed to Elordi's. Here's what he said:
“It’s a shame that was his experience on the set. Especially when those movies came out, it was a time when we really needed something like that. I know from our fan interactions, <...> what ‘Kissing Booth’ means to people and what it brought them during such a dark time. I guess the silver lining is he still made people laugh and feel good.”
The actor is probably used to this kind of interaction already, as his newfound fanbase after the success of Red, White & Royal Blue feels the same way about Perez's portrayal of Alex Claremont-Diaz.
If you felt a little embarrassed about your fondness for The Kissing Booth after Jacob Elordi's take, you can relax. After all, if the movies were made, produced, and released, that means there was an audience for them. And as long as they make you feel good, you have nothing to be ashamed of.
If for some reason you missed the phenomenon that was The Kissing Booth romantic comedy franchise, you can stream it on Netflix and decide for yourself what you think of it.
