If you’re a Friends fan, you remember Bruce Willis’s cameo as Elizabeth’s dad who had a thing with Rachel. You might also remember they never kissed — but why?

Over the years, Friends had numerous celebrity cameos. While during the first season, it was a huge win for the show to grab an A-lister for an episode or two, later down the line, it was vice versa: various actors wanted to make an appearance on the show themselves. Bruce Willis pleasantly surprised the fans with his cameo, too.

In the few episodes that he stayed on Friends, Bruce Willis played Paul, the father of Ross’s new girlfriend Elizabeth. Paul was a tough guy all around (come on, it’s Bruce Willis) and was constantly threatening Ross to keep any funny ideas about his daughter; at the same time, he, too, had a romance with Ross’s ex-girlfriend Rachel.

The double romance was highly entertaining to watch, but despite playing Rachel’s boyfriend, Bruce Willis absolutely refused to film kisses or intimate scenes with Jennifer Aniston. This might come off as a strange decision (especially considering what another cameo actor did to poor Aniston and Cox), but the reason was sweet.

Bruce Willis found his way into Friends because he lost a bet to his best pal Matthew Perry ( who played Chandler Bing); but the thing is, Jennifer Aniston was Brad Pitt’s wife, and Brad was another close friend of Bruce’s. While one of his buddies got him close to shooting love scenes with Aniston, another kept him from doing those.

"I would have loved to kiss her, but Brad was my friend and Jennifer was his wife. It didn't seem appropriate to me, but she's a hottie," Willis laughed later.

Despite his honor and bonds of friendship keeping him from playing a proper romance with one of Hollywood’s most beautiful actresses, neither Bruce nor the Friends actors had any complaints about their collaboration. In fact, the main cast loved having Willis on set, and the group had a blast filming those episodes together.

Do you think Willis regretted his decision later?
