Real Reason Behind Homelander Relentlessly Fat Shaming A-Train
It’s not an excuse, but an explanation.
If you were asked to name a truly good person out of all the characters in The Boys, Homelander would be the last to come to mind. Someone who has so much power and devotes all of his time to being a true menace to society is almost expected to be a true bully who finds comfort in putting others down.
Some fans, however, believe that the reason Homelander is so focused on A-Train's weight goes a little deeper into his understanding of the team.
Being a leader is not easy. Even Homelander, who relishes the spotlight and takes great pride in all the symbols he embodies for patriotic Americans, can become insecure when he feels that something is wrong with those around him.
Being the leader of The Seven, a group that is always under the media radar and has to look good in the public eye no matter what, can take a toll on anyone. Some fans believe that Homelander sees the group as an extension of himself, so he can't let anyone get away.
Everyone should be held to the highest standards, especially when they have already shown signs of weakness, as A-Train has.
It's no secret that A-Train is considered the weakest link in the team by pretty much everyone, including the fandom itself. Assuming Homelander knows or feels this in some way, it's only prudent for him to continue testing his limits. Whether the speedster backs down or not would tell him all he needs to know without having to ask.
Besides, childish or not, bullying has always been a way of asserting one's power in the hierarchy. When Homelander feels insecure or threatened, he reverts to childish behavior, and A-Train is not the only Supe on the team to suffer from it.
To see where season 4 of The Boys takes the leader of The Seven, you will have to wait for the official release. Although no date has been set, show creator Eric Kripke has already assured that the season will be released as soon as the writers' and actors' strikes are resolved. Stay tuned for more news!
