7. USS Callister

A futuristic homage to Star Trek, USS Callister follows the events that take place in a sci-fi simulation created by Robert, complete with clones that he oppressively rules over until one clone fights back and contacts the version of herself in the real world, hoping to escape.

In a cruel twist of fate and karma, Robert is trapped in his own simulation, while his real-world body is left in an inescapable vegetative state.

6. Black Museum

Delivering a swift and powerful display of revenge that still haunts many, this episode follows a young woman named Nish who visits the Black Museum, seemingly curious about its dark artifacts as the museum's owner, Rolo Haynes, gleefully explains each grim exhibit.

Then Nish reveals that her father, Clayton, is one of the exhibits. He has had his consciousness transferred to a hologram where he is tortured in an electric chair for entertainment. In addition, Nish reveals that she poisoned Rolo, and kills him by transferring his consciousness into Clayton's hologram, and burns down the museum.

This confusing episode starts off by following Victoria as she wakes up disoriented and is being followed, filmed, and chased by masked individuals. We feel her fear and root for her until the chilling truth is revealed.

She turns out to be a convicted child murderer, and instead of prison, her memory is erased and she is forced to relive that fateful day over and over again as punishment and immoral public entertainment.

4. 15 Million Merits

15 Million Merits filled us up with hope, and dropped us back to a painful reality. Set in a world where the citizens are forced to ride stationary bikes to generate power and earn themselves Merits, Bing falls in love with an aspiring singer, and gifts her his Merits so that she can enter a singing competition.

The girl is coerced into the porn industry by the judges, and Bing bravely sets out for revenge, but in the end is bought off by the system, unable to save the girl and essentially selling his soul to the society he so despised.

3. Playtest

Playtest took us on a shocking ride with an ending we were never prepared for as Cooper sets out to test a VR horror game. He is fitted with the implant and thrust into a terrifying game that plays on his fears and sense of reality.

Things quickly spiral out of control for Cooper, and then for the fans, as we find out that after secretly turning on his cell phone before the experiment, he received a call that short-circuited the VR implant, killing him less than a second into the game.

2. Shut Up and Dance

Kenny is filmed by hackers watching and 'enjoying' what we immediately assume is porn. Under their control, Kenny is forced to perform numerous tasks, crossing paths with others who have also been hacked. His fear and urgency are palpable as the tasks become more extreme, culminating in a fight to the death, which he wins.

We breathe a sigh of relief and then his phone rings. In a sickening punch to the gut, we hear Kenny's mother on the phone screaming that the video has been released and that he has been watching child pornography.

In a Christmas special shrouded by unknowns, Matt and Joe sit in a remote cabin and share stories about their lives, eventually leading to dark confessions from both men and an even darker revelation about their surroundings.

The cabin is a simulation designed to elicit a confession from Joe, who is a "cookie" of the real Joe. Both men are punished, with Joe's cookie forced to live 1,000 years per minute, trapped listening to the song he committed a murder to, "I wish it could be Christmas every day," on repeat, and Matt, a sex offender, re-entering the real world only able to see people as blurry gray figures, while he appears as a red blur, in a dark and chilly' twist to the festive episode.
