If you're still in mourning over Craig's character death, Ralph Fiennes got some hard truth for you.

Ralph Fiennes has shared his candid thoughts on Daniel Craig 's kill-off in the James Bond franchise. In a profile on 007's No Time to Die death with The New York Times the M actor has said that while some actors may see it as an upsetting moment, a reboot is not necessarily a bad thing after all.

"I thought it was a bold and powerful decision. You know, they might reboot everything, and they might want a woman back in the role of M. Every movie after I took the job from Judi Dench, she blew me away. They always had her voice, a recording, or a selfie. I'm like, "Look, can I be an M, Judy?" he said.

Daniel Craig starred in the last five James Bond films and resigned in No Time To Die released in 2021. The search for a new actor to play the British secret service agent has started right after Craig's departure. According to Bond producer Michael G. Wilson, the new 007 should not be under 30 as he will most likely play Bond for another decade or so.

DCEU's Biggest Star Was Almost Cast As James Bond Instead Of Daniel Craig

The same cast including Fiennes as M followed the franchise for more than 15 years. The Voldemort actor believes that the new Bond doesn't mean the No Time to Die cast won't come back for another film.

"If anyone from Eon Films is listening, I'm very keen to continue training the new Bond. I love playing M, and I love being part of that franchise. But who knows? Things have to change. But I love working with Daniel. He's a terrific Bond. I will treasure that experience," the Oscar-nominated actor told Total Film last February.

Indeed, having some key actors from the Daniel Craig era is crucial if the filmmakers want a smooth transition to a new Bond for fans. Still, it is up to the franchise producers to either reboot it completely or not.

The harry Potter star revelations coincide with the recent confession made by Henry Cavill who is best known for playing Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix The Witcher series. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Cavill dropped a bomb saying he could have played James Bond instead of Daniel Craig hadn't the producers wanted a more mature actor.

"They told me it was ultimately down to, and this is what I've been told, it was just down to me and Daniel, and I was the younger option," he said.

The James Bond franchise producer Barbara Broccoli has said that Bond 26 won't start production until 2024.
