Promising Stranger Things Season 5 Update: Is Max Still In the Game?

Max, played by the talented Sadie Sink, has become one of the most loved Stranger Things characters since her introduction in Season 2 and the last season made her the center of the narration because her connection to Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower ), the villain of the 4th and, presumably, 5th seasons, is somewhat special.

The final scenes featured Max lying in a coma after she was brought back to life by Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown ) in a tough battle with Vecna, suffering from serious injuries.

However, some of the recent updates make us think Max not only returns in Season 5, but she may have the chance to recover and to confront Vecna being in consciousness.

Firstly, fans noticed she was present at the table read (gathering of the whole crew to read the script together before filming) in Atlanta, which can mean she’ll have some presence and lines throughout the final season.

Moreover, the Duffer brothers, Stranger Things’ showrunners, teased theory makers by their recent Instagram post, where Sadie Sink is seen lying happily awake on a hospital gurney alongside Caleb McLaughlin, who plays her onscreen love interest, Lucas.

But don’t be fooled by these pictures: both actors and creators remain silent about the ending of the series, including Max’s fate. Despite the fact Sadie Sink confirmed her presence in Season 5, the actress assures she doesn’t know what is waiting for Max.

"We know <...> it's the last season, so it's going to be emotional, I'm sure," she says.

There are many fan theories speculating on how Max could continue her presence in the last Stranger Things season.

One of them, the most probable one, considers Max will be returned to her body from the trap of Vecna’s mind and since then she’ll possess the knowledge of how to finally defeat him.

After that she may suffer from some negative consequences of her showdown with the villain (including blindness or lameness), but she’ll be alive and near her friends and, possibly, she and Lucas will reconcile.

While filming of Season 5 is already in progress, we can wait for further hints from its creators, build new theories and rewatch the first four seasons on Netflix .
