The good news is that Game of Thrones’ biggest villain is also in there.

With all the epic tough series like Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon that keeps trending ahead of its season 2 premiere, Prime Video isn’t any worse at deciphering modern viewers’ preferences as the streaming is about to drop another potential hit next month, and it actually looks like a must-watch for Game of Thrones and Gladiator fans.

Starring Anthony Hopkins, the show titled Those About to Die is set to once again take the viewers back to the times of bloody Ancient Rome.

Following a fan-favorite historical storyline started years ago by Ridley Scott ’s Gladiator, the upcoming show will reportedly adopt a completely different perspective from what we’re used to hearing about the Roman Empire.

With Anthony Hopkins’ emperor Vespasian as its leader, the series will dive deeper into Ancient Rome’s dark side where the dirty business of corrupt bloody sports killing thousands of people is thriving thanks to being perceived as harmless entertainment.

According to the show’s lengthy synopsis released by the streaming, Those About to Die will capture the creation of one of the world history’s most iconic events, a gladiator fight which is in fact “a world characterized by bloodlust, greed for money, the pursuit of power, and corruption.”

Apart from the compelling plot that has some kind of claim for shading the ancient city’s reputation, Prime Video subscribers may be tempted even more by the fact that the upcoming relentless series about survival games also features Game of Thrones’ big villain Iwan Rheon who this time doesn’t seem to have a much more different role.

In the fresh trailer released just hours ago, Rheon’s character Tenax appears to be determined to play the risky game to his own advantage.

Where to Watch Those About to Die?

Those About to Die will be released on Prime Video on July 19. However, in the United States you will only be able to stream it on Peacock.
