Plot Clues We Noticed On House Of The Dragon Season 2 Set
Sneak peek at the most anticipated series comeback.
Thanks to modern technologies and the Internet, it is possible to look behind the curtains of the yet-to-be-released projects.
While filming at Leavesden Studios in the United Kingdom remains a closely guarded secret, location shooting in Spain, and in particular in Cáceres as King's Landing, offers a glimpse into the pivotal events of House of the Dragon Season 2.
Here are the key clues from the upcoming season that keep us guessing as the Targaryen war continues to unfold. Warning: potential spoilers ahead.
Meleys' Death
The death of Rhaenys' dragon, Meleys, is the first fully confirmed storyline of the second season of House of the Dragon.
The photos and videos from the set show the parade of a "traitor dragon" head through the streets of King's Landing, accompanied by boos from the crowd.
It is most likely that Meleys will be defeated in a clash with the dragons of Aegon and Aemond during the Battle of Rook's Rest. His death may also foreshadow the possible death of his owner, Princess Rhaenys.
King Aegon II Targaryen's Flags
King Aegon II Targaryen, or as we know him, the Mad King, is crowned in season 1 and takes his place on the Iron Throne.
The king's desire to emphasize his difference from Rhaenyra is evident in the photos from the scenes.
In series 2, audiences will see new flags that represent Aegon II: green with the golden dragon, symbolizing the Targaryen faction along with Aegon's dragon, Sunfyre.
Prince Jaehaerys' Death
One of the show's most significant deaths, Prince Jaehaerys Targaryen, will occur in the upcoming season as well.
After Daemon hires individuals to kill one of Aegon and Helaena's children, Helaena is forced to choose, and her devastating choice leads to Jaehaerys' beheading.
The aftermath of Jaehaerys' assassination is highlighted by set photos and video confirming a funeral procession.
Rhaenyra and Alicent's Relationship
Emma D'Arcy has been spotted in King's Landing, aka Cáceres, which is questionable since their character's timeline suggests they won't return to King's Landing until Season 3.
D'Arcy may be shooting flashbacks or dream sequences to examine Rhaenyra's strained relationship with Alicent, giving the audience a more in-depth look at their complicated bond.
The behind-the-scenes photos and videos make the second season of House of the Dragon, which is scheduled for release in late spring/early summer of 2024, all the more worth the wait.
