Penelope's Dress Was a Clever Easter Egg for Bridgerton Season 3
A single lesson in color theory may go a long way for Bridgerton fans.
The gaps between seasons of a favorite show can be extremely long and difficult to deal with.
Bridgerton fans know this all too well as season 2 premiered over a year ago and season 3 does not even have an official release date.
While some fans entertain themselves by watching other shows, others spend time re-watching Bridgerton from the beginning.
And such marathons always reward fans with the details that went unnoticed before.

One such detail is the costumes. Although not central to the plot in any way, the costumes and the colors of the clothes the character wears are very symbolic.
We know that light blue is the color of the Bridgerton house, and yellow is the color of Featherington. But have you ever thought about why this is important?
Well, Bridgerton's costume designer, Sophie Canale, had some very interesting insights to share with fans.
If you follow Penelope Featherington's costumes closely through the episodes, you may notice a slight change. In the first season, we see her wearing long, beaded yellow dresses, honoring the tradition of her own house.

In season 2, however, she begins to choose the color green.
The decision, which doesn't make sense at first, becomes much clearer when you remember the basics of color theory.
What color do blue and yellow become when mixed? And who's the Bridgerton gentleman who stole Penelope's heart in the first place?
As it turns out, this simple change of clothing was a huge signal to the audience about the progression of the story in Season 3.
"I've known for a very long time," Canale admitted to People, explaining how she came to make this easter egg happen. "I forgot actually that no one else knew until last night. That's useful as a tool to know where your characters are going as well".
If you are just as impressed with such attention to detail and want to try and find more easter eggs yourself, you can rewatch Bridgerton season 1 and season 2 on Netflix.
