Paramount's 95%-Rated Supernatural Drama Returns With Season 4 Sooner Than You Think
Ready for some unexplained shivers down your spine?
Summary:
- The 2019 Paramount+ supernatural drama has been scratching all the right itches for fans of X-Files and The CW's Supernatural
- The new fourth season is coming in late May, and the trailer is already available
- The show enjoys a rare 95% on Tomatometer and 83% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes
If you crave something truly unsettling and out-of-this world instead of whatever a potential Supernatural revival can bring, we have an unfairly overlooked Paramount+ drama for you.
The show titled Evil (which is already saying something) started back in 2019, but still holds up in 2024, announcing its return with season 4 in May 23. Moreover, things are getting real dramatic, because this season is dubbed the "final" one — and, according to the trailer, we're in for one big emotional rollercoaster.
The story revolves around a very unlikely duo: skeptical psychologist Kristen Bouchard and a Catholic priest-to-be David Acosta. Apparently, the two are the yin and yang that have to work together to investigate unexplained events and determine whether they have a logical explanation or are indeed caused by the supernatural.
So far, the two have worked together perfectly — at least according to the show's near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes numbers, which are 95% on Tomatometer and 83% from the audience.
The series is created by Robert and Michelle King — you may know them mainly due to The Good Wife, the iconic show that got them a Writers Guild of America Award, but they are also behind Your Honor, The Good Fight, BrainDead, and miniseries The Bite.
Evil's final season had a pretty tough ride: having started filming in December 2022, it stopped on episode 10 in May 2023 because of the Hollywood strikes. Then, the show received an additional four episodes — which the creators even refer to as a fifth season.
The grand finale is set to hit Paramount+ on May 23, set to address the huge cliffhanger of the third season when things got way too spooky — and way too real.
Where to Watch Evil?
Aside from its main platform, Paramount+, you can also stream all three seasons of Evil on Vudu, Prime Video, and Apple TV.
The show is no longer available on Netflix, having left it in 2021.
