Outraged So Help Me Todd Fans Demand Answers After Show Leaves Them With a Huge Cliffhanger
So Help Me Todd just repeated the fate of NCIS: Hawai'i.
On May 16, the final episode of the second season of So Help Me Todd aired on CBS, and this time it was the last not only for the season, but for the entire series.
The show's small but loyal fan base knew that Margaret and Todd's adventures were coming to an end, but they were not prepared for what awaited them in the finale. Yes, it was a jaw-dropping cliffhanger.
So Help Me Todd Season 2 Ended on a Huge Cliffhanger
Margaret learned that Merritt Folding, the founder of a law firm who never appeared on screen, had promoted her just to set her up. And that for some time now, he has been going out of his way to pin all of his illegal activities on Margaret.
However, the episode ended with the viewers seeing Folding, or rather his legs. And those legs didn't look friendly. But now we'll never know what those brown-booted feet promised Margaret and Todd, and that's driving the viewers crazy.
Reddit user BluePopple expressed what all the fans thought:
“So pissed CBS showed their writers, actors, behind the camera teams, and viewers so much disrespect by leaving the show on a cliffhanger. Would it have been that hard to give one more episode to allow the team to wrap things up?”
The cliffhanger at the end seems like a (very) questionable decision. Recently, another CBS series, NCIS: Hawai'i, was canceled and, like So Help Me Todd, ended on a cliffhanger, angering fans who were ready to say goodbye to their favorite show but weren't ready to do it that way.
So Help Me Todd Creators Didn't Have Time to Change the Finale
So Help Me Todd creator Scott Prendergast admitted that the team found out about the show's cancellation after production was completed, and he simply did not have time to reshoot the finale:
“When we pitched out the season at the beginning of Season 2, we told all of the executives what we were going to do. They all said, ‘of course. That’s great.’ [...] By the time we knew that we were canceled, it was too late.”
Prendergast said that negotiations to sell the series to another network are currently underway, but have not yet been successful. However, the showrunner did share what might happen in future seasons.
What Was Going to Happen to Todd and Margaret in The Future Seasons?
According to Perdergast, Margaret would have gotten into a lot of trouble because of Folding, including being arrested and tried for all the illegal activities her boss would have pinned on her. Todd would do anything to clear his mother's name.
Todd and Judy would be together for the next three seasons, but then Judy would go to Thailand and Todd would get back together with Susan.
But now we can only imagine it in our heads.
