Out Of All The Vampire Diaries Dynamics, This One Was The Most Disgusting
That was the most inhumane friendship possible.
Summary:
- The Vampire Diaries was The CW hit fantasy show based on L.J. Smith’s book series of the same name.
- It focused on the life challenges of two vampire brothers, Damon and Stefan Salvatore, and a human, Elena Gilbert.
- One of the cruelest characters, Damon, had what was supposed to be a redeeming arc with Elizabeth Forbes. Fans, however, can’t get behind such friendship.
There are many TV series that portray exciting relationship dynamics – from the least healthy to the ones you want to copy and paste into your own real life. However, almost none of them would survive in the reality of the world around us.
The Vampire Diaries, for example, while highly entertaining, is the last show that could be applied to reality. While it was great to watch, and many young impressionable viewers fell into the trap of imagining themselves as Elena Gilbert torn between two brothers, it would be a nightmare to experience.
This is true of the relationship with both Salvatore brothers, but especially Damon. As much as we enjoy Ian Somerhalder's performance, you can't argue that the only person who would want to get close to him in the real world would be a psychiatrist. His case would probably make a great study.
Liz Forbes And Damon Salvatore's Friendship
What's even more fascinating is that Damon's character development arc, which was supposed to show how he changed over the course of the show, only made many fans' opinions of him worse.
The friendship he formed with Liz Forbes, which was supposed to be a testament to his human side, ended up beating every toxic romantic ship in the rating of the messiest The Vampire Despite dynamic.
Both characters were really awful, to begin with. Liz was always portrayed as a non-existent and neglectful parent to Caroline, while Damon was a true menace to society in so many ways that it's impossible to fit them on one page. Their friendship was doomed from the start, as two characters like that would bring out the worst in each other.
But far worse is what they have done to Caroline. Not only was forced to deal with Damon's presence in her life after being the victim of his assault, but she had to watch him befriend another person who has caused her immense trauma.
As much as some people tend to dislike Caroline's behavior toward her own mother, it's hard to imagine her having any other feelings.
In reality, this would at least cause some major family drama, while on The Vampire Diaries, she was submerged to listen to Damon scold her for not treating her mother right.
If you want to go ahead and rewatch the pure chaos that The Vampire Diaries was, you can go ahead and stream the series on Netflix.
