Sorry, Sheldon, it’s not your time to shine.

Summary:

  • The Big Bang Theory was a CBS sitcom that ran for 12 years, from 2007 to 2019.
  • The show focused on a group of nerdy friends and their new hot neighbor as they came together and navigated adulthood.
  • Although each character is an integral part of the show, fans believe that only one would be tolerable in real life.

Anyone who has ever had a roommate, whether it was in a college dorm or a separate apartment to make ends meet at the beginning of a solo career, knows how many crazy people you can meet when looking for a roommate. Since everyone comes from different backgrounds and has different desires, it can be very difficult to find the perfect match.

Sometimes it gets so hard that we look with admiration at the chaotic lives of characters from our favorite sitcoms. Who wouldn't want to have a roommate buddy like Joey was to Chandler on Friends? Who wouldn't want to find love in a roommate the way Jess did with Nick on New Girl?

But be careful what you wish for. Because there's always a chance you'll end up with someone more like The Big Bang Theory's Sheldon Cooper.

The Big Bang Theory’s Best Roommate

Of course, everyone's roommate preferences vary widely. But half the characters on The Big Bang Theory have huge red flags that you can't overlook, even if you'd enjoy their company as a person. Sheldon, for example, doesn't even need an explanation to be removed from the list of potential roommates.

Howard is too dependent on his mother, and even after she is gone, would try to make a substitute out of the closest person he has. Penny tends to be extremely messy, so her roommate would have to be prepared for double the cleaning duties. Amy's experiments on animals are also not something anyone would normally want to have around.

Three of the people who might actually make good roommates would be Bernadette, Raj, and Leonard.

While Bernadette is good at keeping her surroundings tidy, she can be quite rude and intimidating, so you would have to make sure they have a connection before moving in. Raj's wealth would help him surround the place with the finer things, but he's not known for his respect for personal space. He's also not a good choice for someone with dog allergies.

That leaves only one person. The one and only Leonard Hofstadter, who has his own flaws and bad days, but is mostly polite and respectful of everyone and everything around him. Even better, in contrast to his former roommate, any of the following ones would look perfectly sane and adequate.

If you feel the sudden wave of nostalgia and want to give The Big Bang Theory another look, you can stream it on Max.
