You'll never guess how much he got paid.

When we think of big franchises like Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, or Star Wars, we paint a very glamorous picture of the lives of the actors in our minds.

Surely, given the universal success of these movies, everyone involved in making them should be paid fairly.

Unfortunately, this isn't always the case. The industry can be tough on actors, especially if they don't have a big name yet.

Also, just like any other movie, every franchise starts with something and has to be tested with the audience before huge budgets are invested with the risk of losing the money.

The role of Legolas was certainly a breakthrough for Orlando Bloom, making him a rising star among young Hollywood actors.

Although the actor initially tried out for another role, Faramir, who only appears in the second film, everything turned out better than expected, and thanks to Peter Jackson he ended up with a much bigger role.

Still, the contract didn't come with a huge paycheck.

In fact, the payment was so shockingly small that both host Howard Stern and the actor himself could not help but laugh while discussing it.

Bloom revealed that he was paid a total of $175,000 for all three movies. This is an insane number when you look at it alone, but it gets even worse when you know that the trilogy cumulatively grossed around $3 billion.

However, Bloom doesn't seem to care that much about the money side of things, as The Lord of the Rings production did much better things for his career and personal life than money ever could.

With all the useful connections and recognition of his talent, he was able to make his way to the top of the Hollywood lists and leave his mark on the entertainment industry forever.
