Only True Tarantino Nerds Know These BTS Facts About His Movies
We bet these behind-the-scenes facts will surprise you.
Quentin Tarantino has been one of the most popular filmmakers in the world for more than 20 years. His unique style of incorporating elements from different film genres is undoubtedly a trademark.
But not only does the director love to mix crime, western and martial arts into one movie, but he also pays a lot of attention to small details.
That's why we decided to collect some of the most interesting behind-the-scenes facts you might have missed.
1. Too Expensive Soundtrack For Reservoir Dogs
Quentin Tarantino found Stealers Wheel's "Stuck in the Middle with You" to be the perfect match for the one torture scene in his feature-length debut movie.
With a budget of $13,000 for soundtracks, Quentin spent £10,000 on this one particular song. Well, it wasn't for nothing, as Mr. Blonde's dance scene turned out to be quite memorable in Tarantino's universe.
By the way, another behind-the-scenes fact — who would have thought, but Michael Madsen, who played Mr. Blonde, improvised most parts of the dance.
2. Margot Robbie Actually Wore Sharon Tate's Jewelry
Debra Tate, Sharon Tate's sister, was very supportive of Margot Robbie during the filming of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
She even loaned some of Sharon's jewelry, which made Margot very sad to have such a close connection to the Golden Age actress.
3. Mr. Blue Was Played By A Real Career Criminal
The role of Mr. Blue in Reservoir Dogs was played by one of the FBI's previously most wanted men, Edward Bunker. Tarantino added the iconic opening dinner scene when he realized that Mr. Blue didn't have any words in the movie.
However, it turned out that Edward Bunker wasn't really thrilled about it, as he didn't understand why the gang would sit in a public place before committing a crime.
The man who used to organize robberies and ran a drug empire definitely knew better, right?
4. We Actually Know the Bride's Name
If you are among those people who noticed this crucial moment in the first part of Kill Bill then you are a real one. In Vol. 1, if you pay attention you will see the Bride's full name on her plane ticket.
It's just a split second and you have to be fast, if you don't blink it appears in plain sight — Beatrix Kiddo. All these years we were blind.
5. Brad Pitt Made Tarantino Change The Ending Of Bruce Lee Fight Scene
In this one scene Bruce Lee, played by actor Mike Moh, challenges Cliff Booth, Brad Pitt's character, to a fight outside the set, and after several wins, he ends up being the one thrown onto the parked car.
This scene has offended many of Bruce Lee's fans, and his sister has called out Tarantino for mocking her late brother. Little do they know that the original plan was for Brad Pitt to knock Lee down three times in a row without letting him win even once.
But, luckily, Brad and the crew convinced Quentin that it would have an unpleasant effect on the fans if Bruce Lee appeared like this on the screen.
6. Django Unchained's Hidden Gem
Django Unchained and Kill Bill undoubtedly have a similar plot revolving around a character who wants revenge for taking everything from him and destroying his life.
But it's not where the similarity ends as they actually have a little more in common, as you can spot this Kill Bill Easter egg in Django.
When Samuel L. Jackson 's character, Stephen, speaks to Django, hanging upside down and being tortured, he says, "And that will be the story of you," which is a direct quote from Kill Bill: Vol. 2 when Bill warns the Bride about Pai Mei, a legendary kung fu master.
