Only 5 Episodes Left in Blue Bloods Season 14A: Here's When to Watch

Blue Bloods, a police procedural and family drama starring Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Will Estes, Bridget Moynahan and Vanessa Ray, has been a staple of Friday night television for an astonishing thirteen full years. For many, the Reagan family, who have served in New York City law enforcement for generations, have come to be seen as even more of a family than the Reagans perceived themselves to be! So it came as a huge shock to many fans of the iconic CBS series when Variety confirmed in November 2023 that Season 14 would be the final one.

Obviously, there were preconditions for this, including voluntary pay cuts for the sake of another season renewal, WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, and of course the long years on the air that had to come to an end sooner or later. But that doesn't change the fact that the news turned out to be pretty devastating. It's too early to be all doom and gloom, though, because the new season is split in two, and there are still a few episodes of 14A to go. So tune in, dear friends, as CBS has revealed the release schedule for the upcoming episodes of the first half of Season 14.

Season 14 Was Divided into Two Halves

As you probably already know, due to last year's writer and actor strikes, most scripted series were pushed back to 2024. However, the main side effect for most shows was that the number of episodes was reduced so that the networks could fit the new seasons into their respective broadcast seasons.

Blue Bloods was no exception, as instead of the usual 20-22 episodes, the new season had only 18. However, this is much more than most other shows and should be enough for the writers to provide a satisfying conclusion to all the story arcs. As a result, season 14 was split into two halves of 10 and 8 episodes, respectively.

Remaining Season 14A Episode Release Dates

And now we've seen five episodes since the season debuted on February 16, 2024. The plot hasn't progressed much in that time, but there are still five episodes to go, including the midseason finale. Let's take a look at their release schedule.

As it has been for the past 13 years, Blue Bloods occupies the Friday night time slot on CBS. So, as always, keep an eye out for upcoming episodes on Fridays at 10 p.m. ET.

What about Season 14B?

As we said, the second half of the final season will consist of only 8 episodes. At this point, CBS hasn't given any details except that the release is scheduled for the fall of 2024. However, considering that almost every season (with the exception of the eleventh season due to Covid-19) has started in late September or early October, it's pretty safe to assume that the remaining episodes will start in that timeframe.

It is unclear if there will be any prequels, sequels or feature-length projects after its fourteen season run. However, stars like Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg are open to new ideas, as they have repeatedly stated, so if audience demand and crew enthusiasm is high, the Reagan family may yet return to our small screens.
