Only 2 Old-School Westerns Have Perfect Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes
Sure you know at least one of them!
The audience's interest towards westerns seems to be growing back, as the shows like Yellowstone, Longmire and many others continue to be successful and popular. But even those newcomers can’t achieve a 100% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes.
However, these two forgotten gems did it easily.
The Wild, Wild West (1965 - 1969)
Where to stream: Prime, AppleTV+
The iconic series ran for 4 seasons, but die-hard fans still feel that this perfect western didn't get as much praise and respect as it should have. The adventurous western drama centered on two gadget-armed Secret Service agents working for the government in the Old West.
Robert Conrad played the role of Jim West, and we got Ross Martin as Artemus Gordon. The show also delved deep into the sci-fi premise, as all the gadgets depicted in the movie were not so real for the time and place, but worked perfectly in the show.
The Wild, Wild West is an atypical western that can actually be described as a light-hearted drama, which had a lot of great plot twists. People were obsessed with the show at the time, and even now they remember how great it was.
“I lost tons of sleep on school nights as a kid because of this show. I’d reach for the off knob on my black & white TV at 10:30 bedtime, then this theme song came on and I was stuck for an hour. I still have my trick James West belt buckle with the derringer that pops out.” Redditor Timsruz said.
The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. (1993 - 1994)
Where to stream: Prime, AppleTV+
How often do we dream of completely changing our life on a random day? Well, the main character of this 1-season series, Brisco County, was a well-educated practicing lawyer when he one day realized he doesn’t want to do that anymore. Instead, he has chosen the life of a… bounty hunter! Well, we can understand a choice like that easily!
The series follows him, his sidekick Lord Bowler and, of course, his horse Comet as he hunts down the man who killed his father in this ironic series set in 1893. The show was soo good the fans still rewatch it after so many years.
“I'm currently on my annual rewatch of The Brisco County, Jr and it breaks my heart that it never got more than one season. The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr is optimistic about the future, which I appreciate. As such, it has a lot of fun incorporating technology into the story, such as tanks and motorbikes,” one Redditor said.
