One TWD: Dead City's Controversial Character That Divided the Fanbase
Why does Ginny stir so much controversy?
One of the new characters introduced in Dead City is Ginny. She was born sometime after the apocalypse started and lived with her father on a farm in New York. One night, her father left and never returned.
When Ginny went to find him, she stumbled upon a gruesome scene: he had turned into a walker after being brutally killed by some other person. Ever since that traumatic incident, Ginny hasn't spoken a word.
Ginny's story took an interesting turn when she met Negan. This unlikely duo has been surviving together since then.
Ginny's character has recently sparked a lot of debate among fans on Reddit. Some find her silence and stoic nature intriguing, while others find it frustrating.
The Reddit discussion thread titled "I hate Ginny in Dead City" is an extreme indication of this divide. According to this opinion, Ginny is a cliché mute kid who’s so mysterious and doesn’t follow simple directions.
Some fans have expressed frustration with her for not staying put when told to do so. Her silence and expressionless face have also been points of contention, with some fans feeling that these traits don't make her unique but rather overused and annoying.
However, not everyone shares this sentiment. Some fans have come to Ginny's defense, arguing that her refusal to stay put was justified once the reason behind it was revealed.
Spoiler alert for The Walking Dead: Dead City episode 5.
Since the premier of the first episode, there was a theory suggesting that Maggie made a deal with the Croat — to bring him Negan in exchange for Maggie’s son, Herschel.
Now this theory was partly confirmed in the latest episode. Ginny found out that Maggie was lying about the Croat taking all their grain and decided to take matters into her own hands.
She was out there risking her life for the man that saved her, and some fans believe that she can't be faulted for that.
The last and ultimate episode 6 of Dead City is dropping this Sunday, July 23. You definitely don't want to miss the ending of this story.
