One TWD Character Didn’t Deserve Hate, At Least Not to THIS Extent
Is Andrea the most misunderstood character in The Walking Dead?
The Walking Dead has introduced us to numerous memorable characters throughout its long run, each with their own unique arcs, strengths, and flaws. While some characters are universally loved, others often find themselves at the center of fan debates. Andrea is one such character who has faced a fair share of critique.
Interestingly, a TWD fan over on Reddit shared a pretty interesting take on Andrea, suggesting that she might not be as bad as some believe. And some other fans actually nodded along with that thought.
Firstly, let's address the elephant in the room. Yes, Andrea made some questionable decisions, like trusting the Governor and accidentally hurting Daryl. But, come on, she's human. If we were in her shoes, who's to say we wouldn't make the same choices? The apocalypse is a tough place, and everyone's just trying to survive.
One Reddit user pointed out that during Andrea's time on the show, characters were written with flaws and realistic shortcomings. Over time, the writing shifted, and characters became more reactionary to the plot.
Here's another thing: Andrea's portrayal in the comics is different from the TV show. In the comics, she's more of a badass, and while she still makes mistakes, she seems to make up for them.
One of Andrea's most defining traits in the comics is her unparalleled skill with a sniper rifle. She becomes the group's primary lookout and sharpshooter, — this role was taken by Sasha on the show. Plus, Andrea's bond with Rick becomes one of the central relationships. In the show, Michonne assumes this role.
On the show, her character faced challenges from a writing perspective. Some fans feel that the show didn't do justice to her character, especially when compared to her comic counterpart.
Even though Andrea might not be the most beloved character, it's fair to say she didn't deserve all that hate she got. She really gave it her all, even putting her life on the line to help out both Woodbury and the Prison. Her heart was in the right place, but the way things played out, well, let's just say it could've been better.
