You have to try everything in life at least once, right?

Quentin Tarantino is known to the public not only for his films that continue to take over the theaters and the hearts of audiences, but also for being very outspoken about his opinions on art, filmmaking, and life in general.

Knowing that the director plans to stop making movies after the upcoming The Movie Critic, it's only fair to assume that he'll move on to other forms.

Short films, animation, and TV series are definitely very valid options to choose from. Especially considering the fact that Tarantino has already had the opportunity to work on the set of one of the most iconic shows of the '90s and managed to create a very unique experience for the entire cast and crew.

Back in 1995, Tarantino was invited to direct the 24th episode of Season 1 of ER, titled Motherhood. Pretty much anyone who was around at the time knows what a phenomenon the show was and can call themselves a fan.

As it turns out, Quentin Tarantino was no exception.

However, he was determined to put his personal imprint on the show, so the filming process was very unconventional. During a virtual cast reunion on Stars in the House, Julianna Margulies, who played Carol Hathaway on the show, recalled exactly how it happened:

“When Quentin Tarantino came to direct us – and he was such a big fan of the show -- he only did one take so they didn't have a choice to edit. So we would rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. We'd do one take and he goes, 'Good, let's move on.' And I said, 'Why are you doing that?' and he said, 'It'll be my cut no matter what!'” the actress said.

The director's chosen method certainly worked, as his directorial style remains recognizable even if you don't pay too much attention to the episode's credits.

Although the episode wasn't the highest-rated of the season, working on a medical drama set was a great learning experience for both the cast and Tarantino himself.

If you're feeling nostalgic and want to revisit all 15 seasons of ER, you can stream the series on Hulu, MAX, or Amazon Prime Video.
