In fact, the guy had a career many would kill for.

If you thought Breaking Bad was already as dark as it can get, prepare yourself for a wild ride that will probably make you never feel about the show the same way again.

Unfortunately, it’s not rare for such popular media pieces like Breaking Bad to be considered a bad influence. Of course, no one can turn to the murderer just from watching a TV show, but it can definitely be taken as an inspiration for real-life crimes to commit.

That was the case with Stefano Brizzi, a murderer convicted of killing his victim, dismembering them, and consuming some parts of them.

However, as that was happening outside of the show, there was another killer, much closer to the cast and crew. Clifton Bloomfield, who was an extra in Breaking Bad, as well as Felon, and some other series, was convicted of murdering five people around Albuquerque, New Mexico, between 2005 and 2008.

Luckily, no one from the crew or cast he was around for became a victim of his crimes, however, it must’ve been a hard pill to swallow, knowing how much projects usually affect the actors as they are.

As Breaking Bad ended only in 2013, the actors and the crew had to continue working for years after this incident without knowing who else may turn out to be a criminal.

As Felon’s casting director shared later, they were looking for someone who looked like they could’ve been a murderer. However, never expected an actual one to show up:

“We were expecting actors to come to our casting calls. I’m not expecting the real thing to come through. <...> I don’t think anybody else was actually aware that we had cast a mass murderer on the film.”

However unsettling this story is, Breaking Bad became a massive success among the audience and got huge recognition for better reasons than being associated with several real-life crimes. If you want to rewatch the show, you can do so by streaming it on Netflix.
