One Thing TBBT Celebrity Guests Were Allowed To Do But The Main Cast Wasn't
You would be surprised to know this rule stayed throughout the whole show.
It's usually very admirable for any sitcom actor to practice their own comedy skills on the set.
For all we know, there are many absolutely hilarious jokes that were not part of the original scripts, but were improvised by the actors in front of the camera.
What you may not know is that those improvised takes that don't work only take time away from filming. And not all shows can afford that luxury.
As viewers learned from Melissa Rauch's interview, The Big Bang Theory did not welcome improvisation on set.
This had to do with both the show's tight schedule and the presence of the live audience, which could make things more difficult:
"Big Bang' is very tightly scripted. Because we shoot in front of a live audience, it's basically like doing a filmed piece of theater, really," the actress explained to HuffPost.
Rauch also mentioned her gratitude to the show's writers, who did such a good job that improvisation was out of the question for most of it.
Continuing the theatrical analogy, she compared the episode scripts to a beautiful concerto that you don't want to mess with.
However, there were a few people who broke the rule, and some of their attempts ended up on the big screen.
One of the most prominent examples of this was Wil Wheaton's hilarious entrance into the Star Wars premiere in a Star Trek costume.
Despite being booed on screen, the actor was praised for the improvised moment, making it arguably his best performance.
