Halle Bailey and Jonah Hauer-King's chemistry is so strong, we can't stop melting.

With its charming story and memorable characters, the original animated version of The Little Mermaid captured the hearts of millions of little girls and boys when it was first released in 1989.

With the recent release of the remake, audiences have been divided into two camps, but there is one aspect of the movie that stands out above all others and has captured the hearts of everyone.

The stunning romance between the mermaid Ariel and the human Prince Eric in the remake surpasses that of the original, leaving audiences obsessed with their love story.

While the original movie featured a charming romance between Ariel and Eric, the new adaptation takes the chemistry between the two to a whole new level.

The new storyline allows audiences to witness the growth and complexity of their relationship by providing more opportunities for character development.

First, the film adds more personality to Eric's character and makes him more similar to Ariel.

Both of them feel that they don't belong in the circle in which they were born and raised, which makes them want to explore each other's worlds and go on their own adventures.

While Ariel collects the treasures of the human world, Eric has an entire room dedicated to the underworld items he has found on his sea voyages.

This, along with a little added detail at the end showing the newly married couple setting course for new sea adventures, conveys the characters' bond and makes them even more obvious as a perfect fit for each other.

The film also adds some memorable scenes of the characters getting to know each other better.

In a new, more intimate and genuine way than the original movie, we see Eric teaching Ariel about the world with his maps, dancing together in the city, and guessing the mermaid's name written in the stars.

Besides, even under Vanessa's spell, Eric's affection for Ariel seems to be deeper.

While in the animated version he is completely untroubled by Ariel, in the movie the prince still doubts his choice, always asking where Ariel is even while being bewitched.

Even Grimsby, Eric's valet, doesn't support his friend's unexpected wedding, in contrast to the animation.

All in all, watching the actors portray one of Disney 's favorite couples turned out to be one of the best parts of the movie.

The chemistry both on and off the screen made the journey to the beloved underwater story and its characters an experience that you will want to relive over and over again.
