One Thing Matt Smith Hated The Most About HotD (And It Will Happen Again)
With a great bloodline comes an even greater wig to put on.
A show like House Of The Dragon takes a lot to make. A lot of time, a lot of resources, and a lot of people involved.
Not only do the crew members have to put in the work, but the actors have to give it their all as well.
Fortunately, with a cast like this, the House Of The Dragon team had no problems on set, and the final result exceeded all expectations.
But that doesn't mean the process was smooth and easy for the actors. Even the most experienced actors, such as Matt Smith, who portrays Daemon Targaryen, had to admit how difficult the filming process was at times.
Smith wasn't new to filming for a fantasy project, having portrayed the 11th Doctor in the British science fiction series Doctor Who.
However, flying a TARDIS turned out to be a lot easier than trying to maneuver a CGI dragon, and tying a bow tie was a lot faster than putting on multiple wigs.
A famous Targaryen blonde wig was a must for any character portraying a member of the House Targaryen or House Velaryon family.
Although they are extremely beautiful to look at from the viewer's perspective and definitely add to the ethereal look, they were a real pain to put on.
A makeup session could take hours, and not everyone in the cast could sit still.
Matt Smith admitted that he was not sure how to act in a wig the first time he wore one.
In the House Of The Dragon promotion interview for BBC Radio 1, all of his co-stars like Emma D'Arcy, Olivia Cooke, and Paddy Considine had to agree that Matt was the one who hated his wigs the most out of all the cast members:
"He had more to say about his wigs, and he hated them, and he had more of them. And he looks great!" D'Arcy added.
Too bad for the actor, but he will have to put on his wig again soon. With season 2 of House Of The Dragon already underway, Smith will be spending many more hours in the makeup chair transforming into Rogue Prince Daemon Targaryen.
