All of them evolved, but some did better than others.

The whole premise of The Big Bang Theory is about a group of nerdy friends making their way through life and adjusting to something new.

Whether it's their new hot neighbor, relationship, or fancy job, each of the characters has shown some sort of growth from everything they've been through.

However, not everyone found the experience equally helpful.

Many years later, after watching all 12 seasons and comparing the beginning to the very end, fans came to the unexpected conclusion that the character who showed the most growth over the years was Howard Wolowitz.

Starting out as the creep who couldn't open his mouth without a disrespectful line coming out of it, he grew into a loving, rather submissive husband to Bernadette and a devoted father to their children, Halley and Neil.

Not only that, but his career has skyrocketed since Season 1... literally and figuratively. No other character could compare to becoming an astronaut.

On the other hand, there is one character whose changes are just as noticeable, but for all the wrong reasons.

The one who has been so messed up by the writers that he has gone from being a funny and somewhat confident guy who got both Penny and Amy, to a truly pathetic homeless weirdo.

Of course, transformations like Stewart's have their place in real life, but fans are more inclined to believe that this was an unfortunate case of lazy character writing rather than a deliberate choice.

Subjected to the constant changes of life, neither character would be able to stagnate and stay exactly the same. And even if they did, it would be uninteresting to watch.

Fortunately, the writers did a good job of planning the changes in the characters' behavior, and you can really analyze them for yourself.

If you'd like to revisit The Big Bang Theory, you can stream all 12 seasons on Netflix or MAX.
