Some deleted scenes are so awesome that we are devastated that they were deleted, and others make us think, "Thank God."

Ryan Howard is a complex character, and his temp job at Dunder Mifflin is basically his villain origin story.

He starts out as a nice guy who we all root for because Michael truly makes his life difficult, but as the show progresses, Ryan becomes more and more insufferable.

In season 3, his hard-ish work pays off, and he gets promoted. This is when we find out that Ryan can't cope with corporate life at all as he starts acting braggy and gets addicted to drugs.

In the season 4 finale, Ryan's sins finally catch up with him, and committing major fraud gets him arrested.

Now that we all remember what's what, let's go back to the deleted scene in question.

In the scene, Ryan returns to work at Dunder Mifflin as a receptionist and nonchalantly accepts a call for Michael from David Wallace. David recognizes Ryan and immediately goes off on him. Honestly, he doesn't even sound like himself!

Ryan can't get a word in, and the rest of the office exchanges funny looks. By the way, what is up with Andy's haircut? Anyway, David tells Ryan off to the point where Ryan just starts crying.

At the end of the scene, Ryan says that David "just made the list," meaning the list of people who will be sorry when he is back on top. David is not going to be lonely there: Jim and Kevin are already on there!

The scene seems completely out of place. Ryan is not acting like himself, David is being more of a jerk than usual, and his voice also sounds different, and even Andy's hair is a mess. We are kind of glad that it was cut!

Who knows, if this scene had been kept in the show, Ryan's character development might have gone in another direction. Bullet dodged.
