Is this character really going to damage the universe?

The MCU had always been an example for DC in terms of coherence and consistency. However, as things got more and more complicated, it seems like it got harder for the MCU's projects to stay consistent and well-interconnected.

With its 32 movies released so far and so many characters introduced, it's no wonder some events or plotlines are being constantly disputed by fans. A Reddit user raised one question that appears to be a plot hole.

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as Doctor Strange ends up in a different universe, he was caught by the Illuminati.

One of them, Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic, states that people, being in a universe they don't belong in, cause "incursions."

The fan thinks that in this case, Gamora's existence seems like a plot hole. Just if you forgot, in Avengers: Infinity War, Gamora from the main universe died as Thanos' sacrifice for the Soul Stone.

However, after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Gamora from a different timeline stayed in the main timeline.

So, this might be either poor writing or confusion of concepts. Two concepts that are confused and are frequently disputed — a timeline and a universe.

There wasn't any specific explanation in any MCU's project, so fans have to guess based on what they know.

It gets even more confusing given the fact that the same characters from different universes can look exactly the same as with Kang and Dr. Strange, or entirely different, as we've seen with Loki and Spider-Man.

One possible explanation is that timelines exist within a universe. Actually, there is only one Sacred Timeline, as it was shown in Loki, but if something happens, the main timeline branches creating new timelines.

Following this suggestion, Gamora is not from another universe, she is from the same universe but from the past. But her staying in the main timeline might have created a new universe where Gamora does not exist.

The concept of incursions is severely under-explored in the MCU. Fans believe incursions to be not the person being in the wrong universe but a long lasting connection that erodes the boundary between the multiverses.

Just like in MoM, Wanda was daydreaming, allowing her to be in two universes at the same time, and it was probably exactly what caused incursions. So it seems like Gamora can stay in the MCU without causing any trouble.
