One Major Problem With Older Dragons HotD Could Easily Avoid
The design of the dragons was the one thing everyone agreed was perfect in House of the Dragon... until now.
House of the Dragon season 2 will introduce us to even more winged beasts, as the Targaryens are about to enter the bloodiest stage in their family history, known as the Dance of the Dragons. Despite the fact that the season has yet to begin filming, some of the first glimpses of the new dragons have been released.
However, they look rather underwhelming, not least because the older dragons in the prequel seem to share a questionable treat: sagging necks.
The One Thing Fans Totally Don't Want to See in House of the Dragon
We have already seen this in Vhagar, the oldest and largest living dragon in Westeros (in the House of the Dragon timeline). However, the first look at Vermithor, the dragon that Daemon sang a lullaby to in an attempt to tame it, seems to reveal the very same tortoise-like neck.
It's not that fans are immediately in love with the look.
"You already made Vhagar look like a senile arthritic old lady, now you're doing THE Vermithor like this? He isn't even that old like i need you to be so serious," Twitter user Targ_Nation said.
Other fans fear that the second season will treat every new dragon the same way, even if they are not as old as Vhagar. In addition, some fans say that the design of the older dragons is not even canon accurate.
"I could've sworn I read somewhere that the older the dragon gets the thicker his/her scale gets and their flames burn hotter," Twitter user wandasloorn recalled.
Among the dragons fans expect to see in House of the Dragon season 2 are Sunfyre, Dreamfyre, Silverwing, and Tessarion. Some people also want to see Cannibal, but there is no official list of dragons that will appear.
House of the Dragon season 2 will start filming in March, with the premiere date to be scheduled by HBO later.
