Maybe it’s time to put Organized Crime aside and go back to the roots.

If there's one thing we know about Dick Wolf's Law & Order universe, it's that there's nothing that can't be revived.

After Elliot Stabler's unexpected comeback to lead the Organized Crime Unit, fans began to hope that some of their own long-forgotten favorites would return to the small screen.

Well, it's not just the fans who are interested. The cast and crew are just as interested in bringing some of the Law & Order spin-off classics back to life. With that kind of support, the chances are much better.

It all started with Vincent D'Onofrio, star of the long-running Law & Order: Criminal Intent, pitched the idea of reviving the show to the public and Dick Wolf at ICCCon in Nashville.

When asked about the possibility of him returning to the series, he responded with praise for the role.

Then the discussion took off on Twitter, with other members of the production team who worked with D'Onofrio on Criminal Intent also expressing interest in returning. Former Criminal Intent showrunner Warren Leight agreed that the idea was fun and that people might find it interesting.

Kathryn Erbe, who starred alongside D'Onofrio, was also more than enthusiastic in her response.

Whether this is just a fun conversation on Twitter with no serious intention of bringing the show back, or a possibility that Dick Wolf would like to explore, we will have to wait and see.

One thing is for sure, nostalgia-driven fans are always ready for a strong comeback, even more than 10 years later.

Until then, you might want to turn your attention to the Law & Order series that are still running, such as Law & Order: Organized Crime or Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. You can stream the latest episodes on Hulu or Amazon Prime Video.
