One Key Bridgerton Scene That Was Rushed In the Book But Needs to Be In S3
We’re ready for some romcom gold.
Summary:
- As established in Julia Quinn's original book series, each season of the show follows the love story of a different Bridgerton sibling.
- Season 3 will revolve around Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, following the "friends to lovers" romance trope.
- Fans of Colin's book, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, feel that one scene in particular deserves more attention in the show.
While adapting any book into a play, show, or movie is incredibly difficult, there are some liberties creators can take. Novels, written to capture every corner of the reader's imagination, may be too heavy on details that could be translated to the screen through visuals. On the other hand, the cast and crew may want to elaborate on some scenes.
So far, the Bridgerton team has faced a lot of criticism for not sticking close enough to the books and ruining important storylines. With season 3, however, there is one scene in particular that fans are eager to see more of.
Will Colin and Penelope End Up Together?
One thing that can be said for sure is that Colin and Penelope will end up together by the end of season 3 and finally put an end to the one-sided crush that Pen has had on her best friend for the last couple of seasons. That doesn't mean the road to romance will necessarily be easy.
Bridgerton has already introduced another suitor for Penelope in Lord Debling, and fans are sure that Colin won't have any trouble attracting the attention of young ladies either. Even after the two meet and realize their passion for each other, their courtship won't be as smooth as one might think.
Without getting into too many details, Colin and Penelope's wedding will have to be rushed, as her honor will already have been compromised in some way by her lover. And although this moment was glossed over in the novel, fans are eager to see Luke Newton's Colin break the news to Polly Walker 's Lady Featherington and Ruth Gemmell's Lady Bridgerton.
So far, the show has been praised for its ability to juggle the most intense, dramatic and passionate scenes with some of the funniest moments of sibling bickering or mommy rivalry at proms.
Knowing the comedic potential of the cast, and following the lead of Nicola Coughlan, who has previously described the season as a romcom, viewers can be sure that this scene will be much better on screen than it was in the book. So if there is a strong need to improve some parts of the written original, this is the safest choice.
With just over a month to go until the show premieres, the Bridgerton fandom is already buzzing with all the guesses and theories about what other changes the show will make to the original. If you want to check them all out for yourself, be sure to tune into Bridgerton on May 16 on Netflix.
