One HotD Season 2 Scene Will Make Red Wedding Feel Like a Tea Party
The Red Wedding is considered to be one of the goriest and unnerving scenes in the Game of Thrones, but the prequel might be on track to change that.
While it's not exactly clear if House of the Dragon season 2 will strictly follow the events of Fire and Blood, fans think they know exactly what scene from the books has to be brought to screens so that even the Red Wedding will feel like an easy watch.
With Dance of the Dragons set to heat things up in season 2, fans are confident that showrunners will adapt the notorious Blood and Cheese sequence. If you are not horrified by these two words, you will be soon.
The first season has ended with Aemond and his rogue dragon Vhagar murdering Rhaenyra's son Lucerys and his dragon Arrax, basically offering a massive casus belli to the Blacks. But for Daemon Targaryen, it's not just a casus belli, but a reason to bring vengeance.
Jon Snow Spin-Off Update Makes His Game Of Thrones S8 Ending Worse
In the books, he contacts his former lover and spymaster, Mysaria, who hires two assassins that go by the names Blood and Cheese to bring to the Greens the very same reason to mourn. It's Helaena Targaryen who will have to face the consequences, as Blood and Cheese will have her deciding which one of her children she wants dead. Naturally, Helaena suggests her own life, but the assassins threaten to rape and kill all three of her kids if she doesn't make a horrible choice.
Desperate Helaena eventually picks her youngest kid Maleor, hoping that he is too young to understand what is happening, but Blood and Cheese slaughter six-year-old Prince Jaehaerys instead.
Think Lucerys' Death Was Bad? Joffrey Got It Way Worse In The End
If House of the Dragon showrunner decide to bring the scene to screens, fans might as well brace themselves for a true nightmare. It's not even about seeing small kids get slaughtered for the adults' mistakes, even though it is horrible by itself, but rather about the impact it is going to have on their mother.
"I feel like the audience's reaction will be more directed at Helaena and her inevitable breakdown rather than feeling terrible about the kids dying on their own. [However], I agree with you that it probably would have been nice to actually get to know Helaena and her kids before this happens," Redditor gecko_sticky suggested.
Others, however, believe that the scene is definitely going to beat the Red Wedding when it comes to horror and pain for the characters, because even the death of her adult son was pure torture for Caitlin Stark. Meanwhile, Rob was facing the consequences of his choices, while Helaena's small and innocent kids will be suffering for something their adult uncle did.
House of the Dragon season 2 is set to start filming in March 2023, with the premiere date yet to be scheduled by HBO Max.
