All signs show fans will not be happy for a while.

One thing that the House of the Dragon fandom is still struggling with is casting news. With so many characters already changed from the books in one way or another, it's getting harder and harder to guess what the next cast additions will look like.

And whether or not their appearance will match the image fans already have in their heads.

The Internet still hasn't forgotten the horrible treatment some fans have given almost anyone who differs from their imagined versions of the characters.

Both Emma D'Arcy and Matt Smith, who are now being praised for their amazing performances as Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen, were relentlessly bullied long before the season one premiere.

Gayle Rankin, who was cast as Alys Rivers in season 2, suffered the same fate. With the season still in the early stages of production, casting news is still coming in.

And the fandom needs to get better at taking them in and giving the actors the chances they deserve.

One casting decision that hasn't been made public yet is the actor who will play Cregan Stark. The character is dear to the hearts of book readers not only because of the family he belongs to, but also because of his role as one of Black's most important allies and Rhaenyra's fiercest supporters.

However, some fans' expectations may be very different from reality. While the book portrayed Cregan Stark as a strong older man with a beard, the show's version of him promises to be much younger.

As Rhaenyra said to Jacaerys, they are supposed to be closer in age, so we might expect to see a young adult at best.

Considering that Emma D'Arcy is 30 years old, it would only be fair to cast someone younger to fit the role.

With the tendency of House of The Dragon showrunners and writers to age down the adult characters and age up the younger ones, it would not be a surprise at all.

Hard to say if the decision would be welcomed, but fans should be prepared.

As the filming of season 2 has only just begun in April, there is not much information on the season 2 release date yet. Keep an eye out for more news and behind-the-scenes updates!
