One Gilmore Girls Character That Every Fan Rightfully Hates (No, Not Rory)

While Rory Gilmore is arguably the character that not a lot of viewers like or even sympathize with, this article, believe it or not, is not about her. On the contrary, it’s actually about the person who has wronged her the most.

Yep, we, or rather the fan community on Reddit, are talking about Christopher. Rory’s deadbeat dad is the most annoying character in the entire show, and that’s saying something.

Christopher has continuously screwed up from beginning to end. Starting on a high note of getting Lorelai pregnant and siding with her parents when she decides that she doesn’t want to get married, Christopher has just gotten progressively worse.

He is pretty much an absent father — even though he does pop up occasionally to pay a visit to Rory, he is nowhere near as involved in her life as he should be. You know, as a person who claimed that he wanted to tie the knot with Lorelai and be one happy family.

Remember how Christopher comes rushing into the Gilmore girls ’ lives, sweeps Lorelai off her feet (she must be blind or something), and proposes to her out of the blue the second time?

Not only does her ask for her hand in marriage minutes after failing to stand up for Lorelai and Rory to his parents, but he also dares to bail on them shortly after. Who even does that?

A bit later down the road, Christopher comes back to Stars Hollow, starts things up with Lorelai again, and tells her that he’s ready to commit, only to leave her once more when he learns that his longtime girlfriend Sherry is pregnant. Imagine that.

Christopher has been a disappointment for Gilmore Girls’ entire run, and fans virtually stopped expecting him to change around season 3. Still, it’s a shame that Rory has never had a proper relationship with her dad and that Lorelai has had to suffer so much heartache (courtesy of Christopher).
