It's frustrating, but they have to frame him up as a hero somehow.

It's not uncommon for show writers to twist some characters and events to fit the narrative. While it's certainly not the best practice, and usually looked down upon by fans, it happens more often than you might expect.

This is especially true of the longer-running shows.

General Hospital, for example, has been on the air for 60 years. That's a lot of time and a lot of opportunities for the showrunners to make a decision that blocks other possibilities to be explored later.

It's hard to judge the soap for lazy writing when anything is possible if they want it bad enough. That being said, some arcs and characters that are favored over others really don't sit right with the fans.

If you watch the latest episodes, you'll see how easily this can be applied to Drew. Let's face it: Drew did the least on the rescue mission.

Of course, it would be unfair to honor only Valentine, since he sacrificed himself for the team, but even that move alone puts him above anything Drew did or thought of. In fact, an analysis of the situation shows that he did the bare minimum.

Trina was the one responsible for them finding him. Laura not only did all the heavy lifting herself, along with Curtis but also came up with the idea of Drew pretending to be a guard and saying he captured her.

Drew, on the other hand, will surely get all the credit for this situation and will probably be known as the hero.

Fans believe that this imbalance is caused by the simple fact that he is Carly's boyfriend at the moment, and the writers of General Hospital just can't portray him as anything other than this irresistibly heroic, brave man.

It's already a common sentiment in the fandom that Carly gets too much credit and recognition for her current presence on the show.

Adding her significant other to the equation would be the right way to create the most hated couple on the soap.

Tune in to ABC Monday through Friday to catch up on the new episodes of General Hospital in time to not miss out on the next turn of events as it relates to these characters.
