One General Hospital Character That Basically Became A Disney Villain At This Point

It's always disappointing when a character or storyline doesn't live up to fans' expectations and ends up being a complete mess. And unfortunately, soap viewers aren't new to this feeling. Because the shows run for decades, the characters tend to get worn out and bleak, and their motivations and personalities tend to get lost behind all the drama.

Although this is usually more noticeable with the protagonists, there are some antagonists who end up in similar situations. Viewers believe that General Hospital 's Portia is the next in line to become a bad caricature of Disney 's animated evil mother.

Portia Robinson has been portrayed by Brook Kerr since the character was introduced in March 2020. She worked at Mercy Hospital before joining General Hospital and becoming one of the show's recurring characters. Although Portia has her own storyline, fans focus on her relationship with her daughter Trina.

In 2023, Brook Kerr was nominated for an Emmy for her performance as Portia, which showed how well-thought-out and nuanced her character was.

She wasn't always right but driven by maternal instinct and a desire to protect her child, Portia was easy to relate to. After all, every mother knows that doing what's best for her children doesn't always make them happy. However, she's been overstepping boundaries for a while now and has become one-dimensional with her hatred of Spencer.

Being willing to seek out and reconcile with Esme, who has already damaged her daughter's life, just to keep her away from someone who might do the same, would be a crazy idea for any mother. But not for Portia, who is so obsessed with Spencer at this point that viewers wonder if she might ever go so far as to physically harm him.

While many Sprina fans believe that Portia's behavior would not be the end for their favorite couple, but just another difficulty to overcome, others feel that she could be more dangerous than anyone expects. Either way, anything that would differentiate her from Rapunzel's evil mother would be a gift from the General Hospital writers to the viewers.
