Fans suggest the actress take a many-years-vacation before the character is completely ruined.

Carly Corinthos is one of the current main characters of General Hospital, a soap opera on the ABC network.

Carly first appeared on the screens in 1996 and was portrayed by Sarah Joy Brown until 2001.

From 2001 to 2005, the role passed to Tamara Braun, then briefly to Jennifer Bransford, and finally to Laura Wright, who remains in the cast to this day.

Once universally loved and cherished by fans, with only a few bumps in the road, today's Carly has become more and more of a disappointment with each passing episode.

If in the beginning there weren't many complaints about the character, but mostly about the bad casting, now the audience starts to question the work of the writers.

However, the two might be related.

"After almost 20 years of her playing Carly, the show is caught in writing within her skill set, which isn't large enough to avoid being boring after so many years," Redditor LoomingRoom said, meaning the current actress that portrays Carly, Laura Wright.

"So the character is basically pigeon-holed into being the volcanic, snarling, self-righteous, and controlling busybody who once in a while interacts kindly with someone to try to maintain some balance in the character because those are the parameters that can be played convincingly".

This is a controversial point, as Wright has many loyal fans for her portrayal of Carly Corinthos.

However, the argument that the character is slowly becoming a total control freak with very unclear motivations still stands with the general audience.

Viewers seem to be disappointed with how she handles communication with Nina in particular, making it almost impossible to like or relate to her.

Though unhappy with the current storyline, fans are still hoping to see some positive changes in the future.
