One 'Community' Romance The Movie Must Bring Back

It's rare that a show gets a second chance to tie up storylines that didn't get a satisfying ending. Community the Movie is a perfect opportunity for Dan Harmon to cater to longtime fans and give them what they want to see.

Abed becoming a famous industry director is the first step. The next would be a reunion of a couple that didn't seem to have a real chance the first time around.

Are Community’s Jeff and Annie Together?

It’s not only the fans who want to see some satisfying happy endings in the movie. The cast of the original show is happy to build up the expectations too.

Speaking to TheWrap during the Television Critics Association's 2024 winter tour, Alison Brie admitted that she's not familiar with the movie's plot herself, but has some hopes for her character, Annie Edison. Turns out, the star wants to bring back the flirtatious vibe between Annie and Jeff Winger.

“I do hope that Annie still has a crush on Jeff because I’ve always loved playing out that back-and-forth with Joel [McHale],” the actress shared.

During their six years together at Greendale, Annie and Jeff had a very complex dynamic, with few highs and several lows. Though they shared a few kisses during their freshman year, Jeff went deep into denial of his feelings, upsetting Annie and pushing her away. However, this all ended on a more hopeful note in the finale.

Now that the movie is set in the distant future, maybe the two of them will finally give their relationship a real chance. Especially if both Alison Brie and Joel McHale would be able to recreate the chemistry that was so evident throughout the show's run.
