Season 21 finale leaves another intrigue for one of the characters’ storyline.

Summary:

  • CBS’ police procedural drama show NCIS is moving on to the next season after the latest one’s finale was dropped several days ago.
  • The series’ next installment now desperately needs to give updates about two major cliffhangers instead of one as everyone thought before.
  • Season 21 left fans wondering whether Jessica Knight will still accept a big job offer despite all the challenges, but another character is also getting a good chance to have his story amplified.
  • Given that this character has been put upfront during several last seasons, the finale may have just given him an opportunity to get a major development.

CBS’ giant police procedural project NCIS has officially left its fans until next year when it’ll be back with a new season, and now not only Jessica Knight needs to be given an update in the future installment.

The season’s final episode finds Knight and her colleague, MCRT leader Alden Parker, on a common mission when the latter is significantly injured and later on rushed to the hospital. Though things don’t seem to be fatal for Alden, something that happened to him right after the injury is what fans would definitely be eager to learn more about.

In season 21 finale, Alden’s background story suddenly dives deep into his past as, having a serious blood loss, he starts hallucinating and sees a little girl dressed in white that he calls Lily. She’s first shown frisking in the engine room, and then another vision takes her to a ship where she plays with a younger version of Alden.

The most obvious suggestion here is that Lily is none other than Parker’s little sister who probably died at a young age, and her death may have something to do with boats, given that she appears only in certain spaces that obviously look like a boat.

If such a guess is indeed confirmed in NCIS’ upcoming season, it may come as a long-awaited explanation of why Parker hates the boats so much.

The finale also leaves no doubt that season 22 will surely address Parker’s relationships with mysterious Lily as the character keeps repeating her name even after being treated in the hospital. While Parker has never mentioned Lily to his colleagues before, he seems to be brutally tortured inside by what happened to his presumably sister.

Given that his visions show both of them playing on a boat, the chances are that Lily died somewhat at that time with Alden still feeling guilt for not being able to save her.

Now that Alden Parker has been on the forefront of the team ever since season 19, it may be in fact time to dive deep into his personal trauma that he’s been masterfully hiding right up to the latest season’s finale.
