Too much of a good thing is always bad.

As the 9-1-1 show gets closer to the season 6 finale, fans' urge to see what happens to their favorite characters grows stronger.

Season 6 was an eventful one, already putting in deadly danger fan-favorite character Evan Buckley, but it definitely was not the last surprise from the writers' team.

Earlier this month in an interview with TVLine the executive producer of a series Kristen Reidel teased the fans with a very special return at the very end of a season.

She later had to specify the character returning would not be Abby, but it only sparked more intrigue around it. There is a huge interest in this character since their comeback would probably highly influence the storyline for season 7.

Although the show is not yet confirmed to be either renewed or canceled, fans have their hopes pretty high, some even suggesting 9-1-1 become another Grey's Anatomy in the future.

Not all the fans would be in favor of such a decision, though. It seems like the majority would rather see their favorite show go at its highest than watch it slowly becoming unbearable to watch.

"As much as I'd love to see another 5+ years of Eddie Diaz, once a show runs too long they start killing off characters, and I don't wanna have to actually watch any of them die," Redditor oktobeokk said, again making a parallel with Grey's Anatomy and the large numbers of characters who were killed off at some point of the story.

As the future of the show is still not clear, it's hard to predict how the story will unfold for the characters. However, the hopes are high for 9-1-1 to get at least one more year on air and finish the story on a high note.

Tune in every Monday on FOX to see what surprises season 6 still may bring.
