Night Court Season 3: Everything We Know About It So Far
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, right?
When a good old series gets a reboot, it’s not always a good idea. For starters, because if the original show was a successful and beloved thing, then the new series will have to do its best to live up to its legacy. And that is something super tricky, because even if it's good it will always be compared to a much better parent show.
However, many shows still get their reboots by risking it all, and sometimes the effort works out in the end, and audiences are happy to see a reminder of what they once liked.
For example, we know we were definitely happy to see the 1990s sitcom Night Court Getting rebooted in 2023. The new version of the show had chosen the perfect path: the series focuses on the original story's Harry Stone's daughter, Abby Stone, played brilliantly by TBBT’s Melissa Rauch, who decides to become the night-shift judge of a Manhattan arraignment court, just like her father.
Night Court premiered in 2023 to positive reviews from viewers, who said the show did enough to distinguish itself from its predecessor.
“After two episodes... There was some nice nostalgia. I found myself literally laughing out loud a few times. There were some touching scenes here and there. And I found myself liking the bailiff more than any of the other characters. Hmmm, it seems like Night Court to me. I look forward to seeing some more, and seeing if it holds up. If it actually gets better than this, then it's a winner,” Redditor DaveLambert said.
NBC renewed the show for season 2, which aired earlier this year and finished in March. And it wasn’t a surprise when the reboot was renewed for season 3 as well.
When Will Night Court Season 3 Be Released?
There were some people who have speculated that Night Court's rushed season 2 renewal was a one-time thing. But NBC's decision to renew it for another chapter definitely puts those doubts to rest.
NBC placed the sitcom on its upcoming fall schedule, and Night Court season 3 is set to premiere on the network on November 19.
Night Court Season 3 Cast
There weren't many announcements considering the cast of the show, except for the confirmed departure of one of the main cast members, India de Beaufort.
The actress will not come back as Assistant DA Olvia Moore, which for many fans of the show was shocking and rather devastating news. As for the rest of the cast, all of them are very likely to return.
Night Court is available to stream on Peacock.
