Nicolas Cage Reportedly in Talks to Star in Spider-Man Noir Live-Action Series

The spectacularly disastrous release of Madame Web, which flopped even harder than the previous infamous entry into Sony's Spider-Man Universe, Morbius, seems to have changed the course of the franchise at least a little bit.

According to a report from The Ankler, the entire writing staff for the Silk: Spider Society TV series has been relieved of their duties, clearly indicating that while the project is still alive, it will be undergoing massive changes.

The same report also suggests that Sony may be looking to turn another upcoming Spider-Man TV series into a live-action offshoot of its most successful project about the hero to date.

Spider-Man Noir Comes to Live Action

2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its 2023 sequel were truly impressive additions to the superhero genre in the realm of animation, making both films critically and financially successful.

One of the most unique versions of the iconic hero featured in the 2018 film was Spider-Man Noir, voiced by none other than Nicolas Cage, who came from the black-and-white universe of 1930s New York City, inspired by classic noir films.

The brooding and edgy take on Spidey quickly became a fan favorite, so some viewers were disappointed when he wasn't given a meaningful role in the sequel, only appearing at the end of the story.

In 2023, however, it was revealed that the character would be getting his own live-action show on Amazon Prime, but very little has been known about it since.

Nicolas Cage May Reprise the Role of the Hero

Now, The Ankler is reporting that Nicolas Cage is in "serious talks" to star in the series, which may not come as much of a surprise given how warmly his previous portrayal of the character was received.

This update may also suggest that it will be about the same version of the character that we saw in Spider-Verse, although it is impossible to make any definitive conclusions considering the whole multiverse aspect.

Either way, fans believe that it would be hard to find a better man for the job than Cage, and they are hoping that if the show does finally see the light of day, the actor will not disappoint and deliver another stunning performance.
