The actor’s powerful performance was probably worth it.

Summary:

  • Nicholas Galitzine is currently getting his big moment of fame with the release of his brand new historical drama Mary & George also starring Julianne Moore, but, as the actor recently revealed, filming the show was one of his hardest times.
  • Galitzine shared that he felt like going through the wars while shooting the series.
  • Despite having to put more effort into the work than he expected to, the actor doesn’t regret overcoming such difficulties at all.

Though splendid historical dramas may seem like real fun from the other side of the screen, they can also be nothing like this during the production process — and Nicholas Galitzine’s case can serve as a solid proof of that.

The actor has recently starred in Starz’s unhinged drama show Mary & George alongside Julianne Moore and, as it turned out, had quite a tough time while being on set.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Galitzine revealed that filming Mary & George brought him not only a major acting experience, but also several injuries — starting from the very first shooting day.

As the actor recalled, he fractured his ankle while shooting the first episode where Galitzine’s character George runs across the French palace.

According to Galitzine, the high-heeled shoes that the show’s characters wear all the time are quite a bad match with the sumptuous palace’s slippery floors — and this eventually resulted in the actor’s twisted ankle.

Sadly, this was only the beginning for Galitzine’s series of misfortunes on set. Right after the ankle incident one of the actor’s co-stars had a noble impulse to hold him down from falling, but instead slammed Galitzine’s head into a table — which added a black eye to his collection of unfortunate set of circumstances.

The series of incidents was also followed by Galitzine’s injured chin that was cut open by one of the rings worn by his co-star Tony Curran, who got to portray King James I and George’s lover.

All this, as the actor put it himself, made him feel like he’d been through wars — especially given that the actor, still recovering from injuries, had to be on set every day learning things he’d never personally been interested in, like dancing or speaking French.

Despite having a harsh time filming one of his feature acting works, Galitzine doesn’t seem to have any regrets. According to him, all the hard work he put into his character eventually made its best way to the final cuts which, for him personally, couldn’t be better — and this once again proves how much of a dedicated professional Galitzine really is.
