Next ‘Squid Game’ Director's Project Involves Even More Killings
'Squid Game' director Hwang Dong-Hyuk revealed his plans for his next feature film. Apparently, the movie is going to be even more violent than Dong-Hyuk's superhit Netflix TV series.
During his talk at MipTV, Korean director disclosed that he is working on 'Killing Old People Club', inspired by a novel of Umberto Eco. Dong-hyuk doesn't seem to be backing away from the controversy, once again experimenting with on-screen violence.
Apart from the new project announcement, director revealed some details about his global phenomenon show. First of all, Dong-Hyuk is already writing the second season screenplay, hoping for the new episodes to air by the end of 2024. Yep, that's a long wait. Secondly, Korean director shared the biggest compliment he got for 'Squid Game '.
"Steven Spielberg told me 'I watched your whole show in three days and now I want to steal your brain! It was like the biggest compliment I ever got in my life because he's my film hero. I grew up watching his movies", director recounts after meeting Spielberg during the AFI Awards Luncheon.
With so much critical acclaim and all the Netflix money behind him, Dong-Hyuk will certainly continue his winning streak with his controversially titled film.
