New image from the set hints at more drama in Season 7.

Summary

  • Young Sheldon Season 6 provided no shortage of drama, culminating in a poignant dialogue between Missy and George Sr.
  • New photos posted by Raegan Revord suggest that the upcoming season will bring her closer to her father.
  • However, given the truncated number of episodes, there's every reason to worry about whether the writers will be able to unravel this storyline.

After the WGA and SAG-AFTRA reached agreements with the AMPTP, work resumed on many popular shows. As such, CBS' Young Sheldon, the prequel story of Sheldon Cooper and his family, has been filming for several weeks now for what is expected to be its final Season 7.

Season 6 was arguably the least comedic and most dramatic. Each of the Coopers faced obstacles in their lives and each had issues with other family members. This was especially true for Sheldon's twin sister Missy (Raegan Revord), who went through a difficult period and took a rebellious path. However, her arc culminated in the season finale, when she had a heartbreaking conversation with her father, George Cooper Sr. (Lance Barber). And the photos posted by the actress suggest that Season 7 will show the intense aftermath of their conversation.

Season 6 Finale

You may recall that in the final episode of Season 6, Sheldon (Iain Armitage) and Mary (Zoe Perry) traveled to Germany as the child prodigy had a chance to attend a prestigious university. At the same time, however, a tornado hit Medford, nearly killing Missy and George, but forcing them to band together.

During the season, Sheldon's twin sister was openly jealous because her parents only paid attention to her brother. As a result, she first ran off with Paige (McKenna Grace) out of town, causing her parents to worry, and then began hanging out with Tonya (Sofia Rosinsky), drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes. After a near-death experience, however, the girl realizes her misdeeds, apologizes to her father for her actions, and admits that she loves him and Mary.

Of course, she's just an ordinary teenager, so she can't change right away. There is still a long way to go, and George can definitely help.

And it looks like the writers are going to give her arc some attention after all. Not too long ago, Raegan Revord posted some fascinating photos from the set on her personal Instagram account. In one of them, she can be seen looking through the footage where Missy seems to be talking to George at home.

The displays show the girl at home, looking at their family photos and talking to her father. It was probably just after the tornado had passed because they had a lot to discuss. Will Missy finally realize that her parents love and care for her no matter what? Would she be able to get back on track?

Will the Writers Be Able to Cover All the Storylines?

The only thing that is known for sure about the upcoming season is that CBS has decided to shorten its flagship comedy series. YS will be limited to 14 episodes, which means it will be cut almost in half from the typical 18-22 episodes of previous seasons (with 18 episodes in Season 4 only due to the COVID-19 pandemic).

Since Season 7 is supposed to be the final one, the writers will obviously have to work hard to wrap up each character's story in a satisfying way, including Missy's arc. All of this is complicated by the fact that, according to TBBT canon, there are a lot of pivotal events in the series, including Sheldon catching George in bed with another woman, as well as his father's death.

Well, we can only wait in anticipation and hope that the reduced number of episodes will not critically affect the narrative. Young Sheldon will return to CBS on February 15, 2024.
